It’s easy to default to “why this won’t work.” Our minds are wired to spot obstacles first. It feels safer, more cautious, more realistic. But that instinct, left unchecked, quietly shuts down possibility before we’ve even explored it.
The real shift happens when we redirect that same mental energy toward a different question: not “why can’t this be done?” but “how can this be done?” It’s the same intelligence, the same effort, just pointed in a more useful direction. One path leads to a dead end. The other leads to a solution.
This isn’t about ignoring real obstacles or being naively optimistic. It’s about choosing where to spend our thinking. When we consistently train ourselves to look for the path forward instead of the reasons to stop, we don’t just solve more problems. We build the kind of mindset that makes bigger things possible.
The takeaway: the obstacles don’t disappear, but our relationship to them changes. And that change in direction is often the real difference between getting stuck and getting it done.
