Okay so here’s the real skill nobody talks about enough: bouncing back fast.
Bad conversation? Just let it go, don’t drag it into the next one. Bad day? Cool, tomorrow’s a new one, don’t let today ruin the rest of your week. Made a dumb decision? Learn from it and move on, no need to beat yourself up for a week.
Picture two people who both have the exact same garbage day, fight with their partner, messed up at work, plans fell through. One of them keeps replaying it all night, wakes up still annoyed, and ends up snapping at everyone around them for the next two days. The other one’s just as annoyed in the moment, but by morning, they’ve shaken it off and moved on. Same bad day. Totally different week, just because one of them let it go faster.
That’s it, that’s the whole skill. It’s not about never having a bad day, or making a bad call, that happens to literally everyone. The skill is just… not letting it stick around longer than it needs to.
You can’t control what happens to you. But you can absolutely control how long you let it mess with your head.
