Helsinki

Helsinki is a true city of the sea. Built, and still being built, along a series of peninsulas and islands jutting into the Baltic coast on the Gulf of Finland, the city also stretches onto land reclaimed from the sea itself. As we explored, we noticed how the streets and avenues curve gently around the bays, bridges stretch out to nearby islands, and ferries glide between the offshore islands scattered around the coast.
